Manila: Around 3,000 job openings exclusive to Hungary will be available at the Philippines-Hungary Friendship Week Job Fair in Manila.

The event, part of ongoing international cooperation, takes place on March 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Robinson’s Galleria (EDSA Wing) in Mandaluyong City.

Accredited recruitment agencies will offer roles such as:

  • Machine operators,

  • Welders,

  • Pipe fitters,

  • Hotel and restaurant workers, and

  • Factory workers.

According to the Philippines's Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), salaries range from €700 ($759, Php43,426) to €1,000 ($1,000. or $1086, or about Php62,350).

The initiative aligns with Manila's commitment to protecting overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from illegal recruitment and ensuring safe employment abroad, according to the agency.

Attendance

To manage attendance, the DMW has set up a pre-registration process, accessible via a QR code posted on its social media pages.

“We advise our kababayans to pre-register to secure their slot at Robinson’s Galleria,” said DMW Undersecretary Atty. Patricia Yvonne Caunan.

In addition to the job fair, the Philippines-Hungary Friendship Week will feature activities on March 10 at the DMW Central Office in Mandaluyong City. These include an exhibit, cultural performances, a film screening, and a forum with OFWs in Hungary.

Friendship Week, organized by the Foreign Stakeholders Relations and Engagement Bureau (FSREB), promotes ethical recruitment, labor policy discussions, and international job opportunities through stronger bilateral ties.

In 2024, preliminary estimates indicate that 2.47 million Filipinos worked overseas.

The Philippines received about $38 billion in remittances in 2024.

In the fourth quarter of 2024, 6.7 per cent of households in the Philippines had a member who was or had been an overseas Filipino worker (OFW).
