Dubai: A 12-year-old Pakistani girl was reportedly raped and left alone in an agricultural field in a village of Rahim Yar Khan, in southern Punjab, Pakistan.
Police have registered the case on the complaint against the accused, identified as Ismael, on the request of the family on Sunday.
The family of the victim took the girl to the Saddar Sadiqabad police station for the authorities to take action against the sexual predator.
The girl was later moved to the Shaikh Zayed Medical College and Hospital for a medical test, Geo TV reported.
The survivor's family said the alleged rapist had ditched the young girl in a nearby field after the assault. They said that the family had gone to attend a wedding ceremony in the village. Police said they have launched a manhunt to arrest the alleged rapist.
Last month, 10-year-old Farishta was also raped and murdered in Islamabad. The case created so much outrage among the public that the Pakistan army had to intervene to bring the culprits to justice.
