Man goes on stabbing spree in Tokyo, killing at least seven people
Tokyo: A man went on a stabbing rampage in a popular Tokyo shopping district on Friday, killing seven people, Japanese media reported.
The man drove a truck into a crowd of pedestrians and then attacked passers-by with a knife in Akihabara district, which is popular among shoppers of electronic items.
Police have arrested the suspect, Tomohiro Kato, and have cleared the street to search more evidence.
"I came to Akihabara to kill people," Kyodo news agency quoted the attacker as telling police. "I am tired of the world. Anyone was okay. I came alone."
Six men, ranging from ages 19 to 74 were killed, as was a 21-year-old woman, the Kyodo news agency reported. Twelve others were wounded in the attack, police said.
The attack paralysed the city's district known as Electric Town and drew at least 17 ambulances.
