Dogs are known for their loyalty and unconditional love towards their human. In a touching incident that happened in the Indian state of Kerala, a dog named 'Appu' put his own life at risk, to save his owner's life. The pet dog apparently got electrocuted, and died, while trying to save his human from stepping on an unattended live electric wire, this week.
The pet dog lived with his human, Ajesh, and his family in the Chamampathal village of Kottayam district. On Wednesday, Ajesh had taken his 5-year-old child and the dog along, on his morning walk. The three of them were on their way to buy some milk.

According to an Indian news report, Ajesh was walking slowly, because he had met with an accident recently, and was recovering.
Apparently, Appu, who was walking ahead, detected a live electric wire in the path, lying broken and unattended.
Talking to reporters, Ajesh said that the dog went past the cable, and picked it in his mouth in a bid to move it to the side, so that Ajesh and the child would not step on it.
Sadly, this didn't end well for the dog, he died on the spot due to electrocution, right in front of his human.
The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) authorities later turned off the power supply, after which Appu's body was recovered.
The dog, which had been with the family for two years, was later buried in the residential premises.
Social media users shared the news report, with pet owners and animal lovers offering their condolences. Many appreciated the loyalty that dogs show to their human families.

Studies show that dogs are able to provide protection from intruders, dangerous situations, and in some cases, even from other animals that may pose a danger.
Experts say there is a hormonal response in both dogs and their human owners that resembles the bond between parents and children. Earlier in July, another pet dog met its death by jumping from a balcony, after he found that the woman who had adopted him had died.
