Confirming the incident, police sources said that preliminary enquiry reveals that it was a case of suicide.
Local media reports that Sreekumar was a building contractor. Mounting debts reportedly stalked the family. The police suspects that Sreekumar committed suicide after setting his wife and daughter on fire while they were sleeping. Varkala police have registered a case, and an investigation is underway.
