Bangalore: British Prime Minister David Cameron has appealed for a new relationship between India and Britain, arguing that closer ties could spark both their economies, as London agreed for the first time to allow the export of nuclear technology to India.

Cameron was leading a huge delegation of Cabinet ministers and business leaders intended to send the unmistakable message that his new government considers India a vital partner.

He said in a speech in the southern Indian city of Bangalore on Wednesday, he to make the relationship between India and Britain "stronger, wider and deeper."

Hours earlier, Business Secretary Vince Cable announced that Britain would allow the export of its civil nuclear technology to India, mirroring an earlier agreement the United States made with India.
