Azad's resignation accepted
Jammu: The resignation from the state assembly of senior Congress leader and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad, was accepted on Saturday.
The former chief minister resigned from the membership of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly on Thursday after his election to the Rajya Sabha.
Azad had submitted his resignation to pro-tem speaker Choudhary Mohammad Aslam.
Secretary of the state assembly Mohammad Ramzan told reporters that Aslam had accepted Azad's resignation.
Azad - who had won the elections to the assembly from Bhaderwah constituency in Doda district for a second term late last year - was elected to Rajya Sabha unopposed February 6 this year.
