Hyderabad: The opposition Telugu Desam Party has promised that, if elected to power, it will convert the official residence of the Telangana chief minister, “Pragati Bhavan”, into a government hospital. The party has also promised to increase the health budget to Rs50 billion (Dh2.58 billion).
This was one of the several promises made in the manifesto released by Telangana Telugu Desam party president L. Ramana on Wednesday in Hyderabad.
Pragati Bhavan was built next to the old CM’s Residence in Begumpet area at a cost of Rs380 million.
KCR had opted for the new official residence cum camp office spread over 3.64 hectares as he believed that old residence next door was inauspicious.
When he moved into this state of the art complex on November 23, 2016 the building built in Palladian style had hit the headlines for its various features including the bullet proof windows of its toilets.
The party has also promised to provide 100,000 jobs in the first year of its rule, Rs3,000 unemployment allowance to all the unemployed graduates, free laptop to all the students of junior and degree colleges in the state.
The party also declared that it will waive the loans upto Rs200,000 of all the farmers including the tenant farmers.
TDP also promised government job to one family member of every Telangana martyr who laid down life for the separate Telangana state.
Setting up a Knowledge Center in every district named after social reformers Dr B.R. Ambedkar and Jyotiba Phule, bringing all the elected representatives undr the purview of anti corruption watchdog “Lok Ayukta”.
