Explosion hits Myanmar city

Suspected bomb blast in Myanmar city, 6 injured

Yangon: At least four people were injured in a suspected bomb blast outside Yangon's City Hall in military-ruled Myanmar on Thursday.

The blast comes amid tight security to mark the one-year anniversary of the junta's crackdown on pro-democracy protesters.

"It seems to have been a small bomb, but we are still carrying out investigations," a policeman at the scene who did not want to be identified said.

The officer said a man and three women were lightly injured by the morning blast, which occurred at the bus stop near the building.

Riot police poured into the area and sealed it off with yellow tape, adding to the already tight security in place around the city since late August.
