British soldier killed in southern Afghanistan
London: An explosion in southern Afghanistan has killed a British soldier, the British Ministry of Defence said on Sunday.
The soldier belonged to the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Ghurkha Rifles.
While taking part in a routine road move in the Musa Qala district of Helmand province on Saturday, his vehicle hit an explosive device. Next of kin have been informed.
A total of 125 British soldiers have died in Afghanistan since the 2001 US-led invasion to oust the Taliban.
