Guantanamo Bay interrogation video to be released

Abu Dhabi: Canada's Supreme Court has ordered the release of the first interrogation footage to come out of the controversial Guantanamo Bay.

The footage shows Canadian Al Qaida suspect Omar Ahmad Khadr being interrogated by the country's spy agency. The Canadian Security Intelligent Service was forced to hand over four DVDs despite a three-year battle to withhold them.

A written summary of the tapes and other documents by the foreign ministry was released by the Supreme Court on July 8. The documents detail visits by a "Canadian Delegation" starting from February 13 to February 16, 2003.

Khadr is the only Canadian in Guantanamo and is the youngest detainee. The case has been brought in the Supreme Court by two lawyers, who want to extradite Khadr to be tried in Canada - against the desire of the Canadian government.

Khadr was captured by American forces in eastern Afghanistan in July 2002 and has been accused of throwing a hand grenade that killed one US army medic.
