Abu Dhabi: The world’s first Warner Bros indoor theme park will officially open in Abu Dhabi on July 25, with visitors getting the chance to experience 29 themed rides and daily live shows featuring their favourite television and cartoon characters.

The indoor theme park — Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi — is located on Yas Island, covering 1.65 million square feet, and costing $1 billion to construct.

The theme park is divided into six different areas visitors can walk through, with each section taking inspiration from popular Warner Bros characters and shows.

As visitors walk through areas like Gotham City from Batman, or Metropolis from Superman, or even Bedrock from The Flintstones, they will get to feel the real-life experience of being in those worlds they have so often seen on their television screens.

“The launch of Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi is yet another milestone in the emirate’s journey to further enrich its tourism offering, and help establish it as one of the world’s leading tourist destinations,” said Mohammad Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, and chairman of Miral, the group that partnered with Warner Bros to launch this theme park.

“It gives us great pride to have partnered with Warner Bros Consumer Products to launch the world’s largest Warner Bros branded indoor theme park right here in Abu Dhabi … We are thrilled that fans will be able to enjoy the outcome of this partnership and the massive, fun and engaging park offerings in a few months,” he added.

Al Mubarak said the theme park would resonate with everybody, young and old alike, with their shared affinity for the famous characters.

“When we talk about Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry, [and] the Flintstones, it’s something that we grew up with, [it’s something] our parents grew up with, and [something] our children are growing up with.

“We have created an experience where you can be one with these characters that you have fell in love with … It is a highly immersive theme park,” he added.

Mohammad Abdullah Al Za’abi, chief executive officer at Miral, said that 27 out of the 29 rides would be open to everyone, with only two of them having height restrictions for young children.

“The good thing about Warner Bros World is that most of our rides are good for children and adults. Only two rides will have height restrictions, the other rides are available for everyone.

“It’s a truly immersive experience once you step inside the theme park. We will have nine different live shows everyday, and 56 characters from Warner Bros inside.”

Pam Lifford, president, Warner Bros Consumer Products, promised visitors an unforgettable experience.

“We have worked tirelessly with our partners at Miral to faithfully bring iconic franchises such as DC Entertainment, Looney Tunes and Hanna-Barbera to life in a truly immersive and authentic environment.

“Delivering experiences and products that continue our brands’ storytelling and excite and engage fans is our primary goal, and we look forward to sharing this world-renowned attraction with them this summer,” she added.
