Youngsters come together to draw UAE's largest Mother's Day card
Dubai: More than 100 schoolchildren from private and public schools participated in drawing the UAE's largest greeting card to mark Mother's Day.
Titled For My Mother With Love the greeting card was drawn by the schoolchildren along with their counterparts with special needs from the Dubai Handicapped Rehabilitation Centre.
The event was organised by Dubai Municipality in cooperation with Children's City, and with the support of the Saleh Bin Lahej Group, out of respect for mothers and their high status in society.
The card, spanning 84 square metres, was drawn at the entrance of Children's City, and is dedicated to mothers on Mother's Day, which is celebrated in the UAE today.
The event received a huge turnout from youngsters and delegations of schoolchildren who have been visiting the City since March 14 when the event began, to see their counterparts drawing and colouring the card.
Makiya Al Hajiri, Head of Children's City, said: "It is a special and innovative event that reflects children's love and recognition of their mother's role and their great contribution to their life and future."
Osama Salheen, Head of the Hospitality Sector in the Saleh Bin Lahej Group, said: "By sponsoring such an event, we wanted to pay back the society to which we are indebted, and to help revive family values and highlight the mother's status in society."
The greeting card has been printed on thousands of normal-size greeting cards to be distributed today to 10,000 pupils in Dubai, to give them to their mothers, as a token of love.
