UAE authority distributes 2,000 food packets to stranded truck drivers
Abu Dhabi: The Red Crescent Authority (RCA) on Sunday distributed 2,000 food packets to truck drivers stranded between the Ghuweifat border crossing and Saudi Batha check point.
The RCA has stepped up its humanitarian efforts to ease the suffering of thousands of truck drivers as part of its humanitarian role, said Mohammad Khalifa Al Qumzi, RCA Secretary General.
He said many measures have already been taken by the RCA within the framework of an emergency plan to help the stranded truck drivers.
He said snacks as well as drinking water and beverages were distributed to the stranded drivers, stretching 32km from the Ghuweifat border crossing.
A team of medics and volunteer doctors has also been sent to assess the needs of the drivers on the ground, Al Qumzi said.
