Two filthy stores shut

Ras Al Khaimah: Civic authorities here shut down the stores of two restaurants, in which items were stored openly and exposed.

There were rats in these stores. Mubarak Ali Al Shamsi, the Chairman of the RAK Municipality said the two restaurants that owned the stores were caught red handed with serious hygienic violations.

Adel Al Deek, who heads the Environment and Public Health Department at the emirate's Municipality, said inspectors noticed some piles of garbage while scanning the stores, adding that it provides a perfect breeding ground for the rodents.

He added that the way the restaurants store their raw materials does negatively affect the food they serve and that's why they took the drastic measures and ordered the closure of the stores. The eateries were also fined Dh2,000 each.
