Two people die in road accidents on Eid holidays
Abu Dhabi: Two people were killed and several others were injured in traffic accidents during Eid holidays in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
An Asian man riding a bicycle was knocked down and killed immediately near the bridge leading to Khalifa City. In Al Ain, an Asian driver crashed against a wall and died instantly.
Two Arab men were injured in an accident near the Mussafah Bridge on the first day of Eid.
Awareness campaign
A vehicle overturned near Ramah Bridge on the way to Al Ain, injuring four Asian passengers. Those who were seriously injured were moved to Al Tawam Hospital by the police ambulance.
A vehicle hit a lamp post and a barrier, but no one was injured.
The traffic police continued to campaign for traffic safety and the importance of complying with rules and regulations.
The campaign was launched a day before the Eid holidays began, with the aim of educating drivers about traffic rules, especially the new rule that stipulates community service for those caught driving recklessly.
The traffic police distributed boxes of sweets to motorists while asking them to drive safely.
Colonel Adil Hamad Al Shamsi, Director of the Traffic Department of Abu Dhabi Police, said the campaign, launched as per the instructions of Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior, also includes visiting the injured.
