RTA links bus route to Al Seef abra station to help passengers

Dubai: As part of the strategy to integrate all modes of transport, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has taken the first steps by linking bus route No. 19 to Al Seef Abra Station.

Mohammad Obaid Al Mulla, CEO of Public transport, said the move is part of the strategy to achieve integration between different means of transport, which include the metro, public transport and taxis, and abras.

Saves time

The step of connecting Bus Route No.19 to pass through Al Seef station is to provide safety and convenience to commuters. Accordingly, the distance between the bus stop and the abra station will take only a minute on foot and, people can move to Route No. 3 to Baniyas Station that is built opposite the Dubai Municipality in three minutes.

He pointed out that bus route No. 19 is one of the vital lines, through which nine buses run carrying nearly 2.4 million passengers annually, and operates between Hor Al Anz Bus Station and Karama Commercial Centre passing through Hamriya, Al Sahidi roundabout, Bank Street, Al Gubaiba, Gold Souq, Public Library etc.

Eisa Al Dosari, CEO of Marine Agency said linking of bus services and the abras will increase demand of buses and abras.

Route No. 3 of the abras will link Al Seef bus station opposite the Saudi Consulate to Baniyas Station opposite Dubai Municipality, and this route will serve vital government institutions that include Dubai Municipality, Department of Economic Development, Department of Land and Property, Chamber of Commerce, Dubai Development Board, Department of Tourism and Commercial Marketing and Etisalat and two hotels.

Around ten abras work on this route and carry 804,000 passengers annually, and the journey takes three minutes, for a fee of 50 fils.
