Road authority installs toll road exit signs to guide motorists
Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed installing signs guiding motorists to the toll gates, as well as free exits.
The toll gates located at Al Garhoud Bridge and Shaikh Zayed Road [Al Barsha Gate] near Mall of the Emirates will be activated on July 1. Wayside signs will also be installed on Dubai-bound routes and at locations before petrol stations that are selling toll tags.
Engineer Maitha Bin Udai, CEO of the RTA's Roads and Traffic Agency, said that free exits leading to alternative roads have been constructed by the RTA to offer motorists an alternative to toll roads.
The alternative roads include Dubai bypass crossing which connects Sharjah with Abu Dhabi, the floating bridge, which connects Al Ittihad Road with Al Riyadh Street in Bur Dubai, Business Bay Bridge with 13 lanes, and Emirates Road which is being expanded to six lanes.
Maitha called on all motorists who will drive through the toll gates to hurry up, buy the tag and open an account to avoid fines.
She said Salik will help reduce traffic and encourage motorists to use alternative roads and reduce pressure on downtown roads.
