Police give students road safety tips

Al Ain: Al Ain Traffic Police on Wednesday gave road safety tips and guidelines to students from Al Ain Women's College as part of their efforts to create traffic awareness.

The students were also shown a film about the recent pile-up on Abu Dhabi-Dubai highway. Lieutenant Colonel Khalifa Al Khaili, Head of the Traffic and Patrols Department, said the main reason for the accident was fog. He also emphasised the need to take proper precautions during the early morning when clear vision may not be possible.

He focused on incorrect overtaking saying it was highly dangerous and killed many people. He also spoke about safety features in cars, and how to use them effectively.

Captain Mattar Abdullah Al Muhairi, Director of the Fines and Infraction Department, explained the new traffic laws and the black points system. The session was well-received by over 150 students and staff.
