Dubai: Police were called after an accident on The Palm in Dubai on Monday afternoon when a section of the road collapsed and trapped a truck as it fell to its side.
Witnesses told Gulf News the truck was being used on the construction site next to the Abdul Rahman Siddik Mosque located just before the entrance to the tunnel towards The Atlantis.
It is believed the road below the truck’s rear left tyre gave way as the vehicle went to drive way.
It was not clear how long the truck had been stationary or if there were any injuries.
The hole appeared to be at least three metres wide and trapped the tyre, causing it to slip to its side.
Two police vehicles, including a police truck, were on site to manage the accident. Two officers were directing traffic while another two officers used the police truck to pull the vehicle out of the hole.
The accident drew a crowd of construction works and drivers reduced their speed as they drove past, but there were no major delays to the public.
Police officers on site would not comment on the accident.
