Dubai; The 76th edition of number plates auction raised over Dh27 million which was hosted by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Rashidiya.

Five number plates of the total auctioned fetched nearly Dh6 million or 21 per cent of the total proceeds.

The auction, organised by the Licensing Agency at RTA, included 2, 3, 4 and 5-digit number plates of various codes.

"The auction witnessed huge public interest as 274 people of various nationalities took part; which is attributed to the wide range of distinguished plates on offer totalling 125 numbers of different codes.

"It reflects the keenness of the public to take part in these auctions held frequently throughout the year," said the Director of RTA Vehicles Licensing, Mohammad Abdul Kareem Nimaat.

"The highest earning number was (J 14) which fetched Dh2.12 million, followed by (K 24) with Dh1.4 million. The 3-digit plate (G 777) was sold for Dh870,000, (G 7777) for Dh505,000 and the 5-digit plate (K 55555) was auctioned for Dh800,000," said Nimaat.
