New projects to improve traffic flow initiated
Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that work to improve and amend a number of sites on Dubai roads has started.
This includes work to improve the capacity of the Dubai airport entrance and increase safety for traffic movement from the airport tunnel.
Actions include improving the Nad Al Hammar road for vehicles coming from the airport tunnel, as well as improving the Mazaya Roundabout.
Other projects are improving the junction of Salah Uddin Street with Al Jazeera street, building a secure U turn at Salah Uddin Street, improving the performance of the traffic signal at Marrakesh Street junction with the airport and improving Al Ras Road behind the Twin Tower building.
Safety standards
Nabeel Mohammad Saleh, Director of the Roads Department, said the improvements will be through the adoption of a number of measures.
These steps will be taken within the framework of the highest standards of safety, he said. Such safety standards will be achieved by building safe entrances and exits to major roads, and by providing additional lanes for free and easy points to take a u-turns. The sizes of the roundabouts will be reduced and signals will also be installed.
He said there will be alternative routes for easy traffic movement.
I appreciate Dubai government's initiatives ... but what about Sharjah to Dubai road congestion?

Dubai,UAE
Well I think a fast paced country like the UAE should have more flyovers to ease the traffic, especially from Sharjah. It?s pretty surprising that there are connecting roads between the two emirates but some are closed which enhances the traffic to build up. Once you enter Dubai the traffic eases out but still it?s high time there should be a proper network so traffic can ease out.
