More than 100m ride Dubai Metro since its launch

Dubai: Dubai Metro has surpassed another milestone as more than 100 million passengers have used the Dubai Metro from the day it was launched on September 9, 2009 to November 7 this year, according to statistics released by Dubai Roads and Transport Authority.

Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), announced that the ridership of the Dubai Metro Red and Green Lines has touched new heights breaking the 100 million passengers barrier since the service was launched.

"The metro ridership has grown tremendously following the operation of the Green Line in September which now accounts for as much as 30 per cent of the total metro riders," he says.
