Dubai: Dubai has received the flag of hosting the 59th World Congress and Exhibition of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) in 2011.

Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) received the UITP flag from Roberto Cavalieri, UITP President at the closing session of the 58th UITP World Congress held in the Austrian capital Vienna.

The event was attended by more than 1,000 personalities including Mohammad Ahmad Omran, UAE Ambassador to Austria and Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations in Vienna.

In his speech, Al Tayer said: "The UAE has made massive economic, social and cultural development and grew into a key commercial centre thanks to the wise leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai."

Al Tayer invited the conference attendees to Dubai at participate in the 59th UITP Congress.
