Al Ain: Developmental projects and rush of residents from Abu Dhabi and Dubai due to low house rents have led to traffic bottlenecks in Al Ain.

The situation because unbearable during Eid holidays, with thousands of cars crawling bumper to bumper on the main streets of the city.

Construction work at the busy downtown area generally triggers traffic jams during rush hour, affecting people going to the main market area in Al Ain.

Al Ain Municipality and traffic police have set up several road diversions, but they are too narrow.

Abdul Kareem, an expatriate, said the diversions are poorly designed and are a headache for the people. These diversions have been contributing to the long traffic jams, he said. "It's really frustrating to go to the downtown area," he said.
