Suzan's murder: Lawyer rakes up dirt

Last updated:

Cairo: An Egyptian lawyer has asked the country's chief prosecutor to order the arrest of the father and brother of slain Lebanese singer Suzan Tamim.

Egyptian newspapers said on Monday Nabih Al Wahash, a lawyer known for his lawsuits against entertainers, had accused Suzan's father and brother for their alleged involvement in unlawful acts that ultimately led to the singer's untimely death.

The premise for Al Wahash's accusations was apparently a foiled bid to smuggle cocaine into Egypt in 2004, the papers said.

Suzan, who was 30, was found murdered in her luxury apartment in Dubai on July 28.

Egyptian business tycoon Hesham Tala'at Mustafa and an ex-policeman, identified as Mohsen Al Sukkari, were charged earlier this month with involvement in the murder.

Both defendants are expected to stand trial at a Cairo criminal court next month. Hesham had an affair with Suzan, according to local media reports

Local newspapers on Monday quoted Al Wahesh as claiming that Tamim's brother had killed a person in his sister's apartment in Cairo before she fled Egypt apparently after a break-up with Mustafa.

The lawyer, who asked Egypt's chief prosecutor to arrest Tamim's father and brother through the Interpol, claimed that Mustafa had helped the father-son duo escape punishment.
