General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, UAE Minister of Defence and Chairman of the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), is scheduled to visit the Shindagha heritage sites on Wednesday. This year's promotions at Shindagha feature a wide range of traditional and cultural experiences, exhibitions, musical programmes and a variety of activities that have appealed to visitors.

The UAE's Arabian culture offers a unique tourism product that is being developed and sustained to provide significant growth for the industry. The DTCM has provided strategic planning and marketing for the culture and heritage sites in Dubai, by employing an integrated approach to heritage development. The Shindagha heritage sites have already proved attractive to visitors this year with the sites averaging record daily crowds of 30,000 plus visitors.

Cultural and heritage tourism is currently a global phenomenon and one of the fast growing and lucrative segments of the international travel industry. Alongside the UAE's heritage and culture, seven countries including Jordan, Egypt, Sudan, Libya, Yemen, Mauritania and Algeria get an opportunity to promote their culture in a display of regional unity. Sheikh Mohammed will be accompanied on his site tour by Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing Director-General, Khalid bin Sulayem.
