Screw in pizza gives Dubai-based father a big shock

Dubai: A Dubai-based father got the shock of his life when his eight-year-old son started chewing on a metal screw hidden under a layer of cheese in a takeaway pizza.

Renith Cherukunnon, a 40-year-old director from India, bought a thin grilled chicken pizza from a restaurant in Al Barsha on Friday evening.

His son was halfway through the pizza when he started complaining of a hard substance that he couldn't chew. His father asked him to remove the item and to both their horror it was a metal screw over an inch in length.

Cherukunnon told Gulf News it was extremely scary watching his son almost choke on the piece of metal.

"The consequences could have been a lot worse. I'll certainly not be going back to that outlet."

The screw has been handed to officials at Dubai Municipality and they are investigating the incident.

The restaurant has not commented on the incident.
