Roads authority sets up crises management system in Dubai
Dubai: In an attempt to tackle crises and disasters when they happen, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has set up a system.
"RTA is committed to effective management of any crises that might jeopardize its services, agencies and sectors through identifying and assessing all risks that might trigger crises during the processes and services rendered by the RTA.
"The Team aims to protect lives, environment, as well as RTA properties in particular and properties in the emirate of Dubai in general. The Team shall remain compliant with all corporate governance standards and abide by the relevant statutory requirements," said Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of RTA.
The system includes a list of procedures that govern the dealing with the legal requirements of crises and disasters. These cover assessing the risks of crises and disasters, assessing the impact of crises and disasters, drills on tackling crises and disasters, and communication in case of crises and disasters.
Al Tayer also passed an administrative decision establishing Crises Management Team, chaired by Abdul Majeed Al Khaja, CEO of Rail Agency. Members of the Team include directors of Traffic, Marketing and Corporate Communication, Legal Affairs, Finance, Safety Streamlining and Planning, Road Maintenance, as well as RTA media spokesperson.
