Like his illustrious father late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his brother, President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, is also known for his administrative abilities.
In November 2004, General Shaikh Mohammad was named the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. Along with being the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces he is also Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
Shaikh Mohammad, who received his formal education in the UAE and England and graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 1979, has also gained great respect for his military experience. He has been Commander of the UAE Air Forces and Air Defence, Deputy Chief-of-Staff of the UAE Armed Forces, and Chief-of-Staff of the UAE Armed Forces.
He has also received numerous citations and decorations from the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Morocco, Pakistan, the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Italy.
Shaikh Mohammad is the President of the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) and an active member of the Supreme Petroleum Council.
He also chairs the Abu Dhabi Council for Economic Development (ADCED) and Mubadala Development. The latter is the main investment vehicle for the Abu Dhabi government to attain sustainable social and economic benefits for the emirate. In addition, he is also in charge of the emirate's education council.
