The event also includes an exhibit of the life, works and inventions of da Vinci.
The Renaissance Age came alive yesterday with a Leonardo Da Vinci exhibition in Dubai.
The event, held at the Zayed University campus in Dubai, was kicked off by a lecture delivered by Prof Danielle Morelli, an Italian architect, academician and designer of Dubai's Mercato Mall.
He is presenting a series of lectures and workshops as part of a cultural-activities programme at the university's Dubai and Abu Dhabi campuses.
The event also includes an exhibit of the life, works and inventions of da Vinci.
Dr Hanif Hassan, vice-president of Zayed University, said these events are linked to the school's academic programmes to help arts and design majors study the Renaissance Age.
"This age brought a flowering of the arts, literature, architecture and the beginnings of modern science," Dr Hassan said. "Leonardo da Vinci's mastery of the arts, sciences and engineering has earned him a place among the most prolific geniuses in history."
In his lecture, Prof Morelli explored da Vinci's time in Florence and focused on some of the master's greatest contributions to art, architecture and science.
Prof Morelli is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and an expert on the Florentine school of Italian Renaissance.
In addition to being an architect, he is an experienced artist whose fields include painting, sculpture, mosaics, glass art, jewellery and photography. He is the artistic manager for the Habitalia Design Group, and holds a teaching post at the Academy of Fine Arts.
