Residents must stop complaining about feeder buses taking up parking space
Recently, I read with interest how Dubai residents are complaining that the feeder buses are taking up car parking spaces. I agree with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) completely.
After all, the aim is to get people out of their cars and into public transport. I think people are lucky to have access to feeder buses. As residents of Motor City, we have been urging the RTA to let us use the F30 bus that goes to the Arabian Ranches. It passes our main entry point, but does not stop.
To use this service, we have to wade through sand for 10 minutes and then risk our lives by running across a busy dual carriageway with speeding cars and construction traffic.
The elderly, children or even those with bags have no chance of survival. All we want is a bus stop on our side of the road.
I would urge residents to stop complaining, get out of your cars and use public transport. Think of all the residents who would love to use the Dubai Metro and public buses but do not have access to them yet! I can think of more than 2,000 families in my residential complex who are in this situation.
Dubai is in the process of implementing one of the most modern integrated transport schemes. We need to back the RTA and use it well.
