Dubai: Under the patronage of Shaikh Majid Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture, the Ismaili Centre announced on Wednesday the start of an exclusive four-day photographic exhibition titled Reminiscing Heritage.

The exhibition showcases historic and rare images captured through the lens of Royal Photographer, Noor Ali Rashid and presents the images of Dubai in the 1960s, categorised by the themes of people, places and occasions.

Shaikh Majid, who inaugurated the exhibition said: "Preservation of the past is critical to the passing of the knowledge of our history, culture and heritage to our future generations. We are pleased to extend our support to Noor Ali Rashid and congratulate the Ismaili Centre for bringing this exhibition to the public."

Rashid was named Royal Photographer by the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and was officially authorised as photographer for the Al Nahyan family and the Royal families of the seven emirates and as 'the UAE's Photographer of the Millennium'.

Rashid has encapsulated the emirate's unprecedented growth and achievements since 1958. His collection is based on a lifetime dedicated to capturing memories of the UAE's leadership, its people, tradition, and heritage. It embodies his dedication to his profession and to his country whose land, people, and leaders embraced him as their own.

Rashid has authored 10 books about the Rulers of the UAE and the most recent one about His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, called Shaikh Mohammad Life and Times is available in English and Arabic.

"These pictures not only provide a glimpse into our rich culture and history, they also give us an appreciation of the depth of work and vision that has been significant in the building of this great nation. The generosity and unlimited giving of the UAE is seen everywhere, it deserves to be served with sincere loyalty," Rashid said.

He added his camera is like the air he breathes, it accompanies him everywhere and captures the crucial, unforgettable and wise steps of the development of the country. The exhibition is open to the public today, tomorrow afternoon and Sunday afternoon. Ladies' day is on Sunday morning.
