Oman aims to display its hidden treasures
In a bid to boost tourism, Oman Air has added Khasab as a new destination. It operates three direct flights from Dubai to Khasab on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
The Department of Tourism in Oman is looking to strengthen its links with other airlines and has urged the private sector to play a key role in exploring Khasab, said Mohsin bin Khamis Al Balushi, Undersecretary of Tourism at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Abdul Rahman Al Bussaidy, Chief Executive Officer of Oman Air, said: "Oman Air continues to be fully committed towards promoting tourism in Oman. Much of the Sultanate is yet unknown and explored by tourists seeking new horizons. Indeed, the commencement is yet another step towards unveiling what Oman has to offer as a tourist destination.
"The launch of this route is the result of the continuous joint efforts by the Directorate General of Tourism and Oman Air to develop the industry. The government has identified tourism as an important and strategic economic activity to grow and diversify its national income and create new employment opportunities."
Major investments have been made in infrastructure, and attention is being given to important sites. The government has also made changes in visa requirements, thus making it far easier for tourists.
"We are confident that with proper marketing and promotion, this region will become a popular destination internationally and domestically. Oman Air has attractive packages to Khasab, and also offers more than one destination on the same trip. We are counting on our trade partners to promote these packages," Al Bussaidy added.
