Narendra Prasad dead

Well-known Malayalam film and stage actor Narendra Prasad died at a private hospital here yesterday. Prasad, 58, was under treatment for respiratory illness.

A large number of film personalities rushed to the hospital as news of his death spread. His body was later taken to Mavelikkara, his home town, for last rites.

A man of many parts, Prasad also distinguished himself as a literary critic, playwright and director. He worked as the Director of the Department of Letters at the Mahatma Gandhi University and as a Senate member. He has published 15 literary works.

He started his film career in 1988 and acted in more than 150 movies.

He is survived by his wife Nanda and two daughters- Divya and Deepa.
