The Libyan National squad held Al Ain senior soccer team, Champions of the UAE league and the President's cup last season, to a 1-1 draw in a friendly match played, at Nortburg, in Germany.

Both outfits are currently conducing a warm-up camps in Nortburg.

Al Ain are preparing for the domestic competitions as well as the Asian Super Cup championship whereas the Libyans, led by their ace player Saedy, son of the Libyan leader Moamar Al Ghadafi, are gearing up for the forthcoming African Nations Cup.

The UAE side held a ten-day external camp earlier in Austria before they moved to Germany last Friday.

Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of Al Ain Club and its Honourary Council, along with Mohammed Thaloob Al Derei, member of the club's honourary council, Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithy, Head of the Executive Committee, and Hamad bin Nikhairat Al Amry attended the game.

Earlier in the day, Sheikh Hazza arrived in Nortburg to visit Al Ain mission. He was briefed by the French coach Metsu about the team's programme since their arrival. Sheikh Hazza called on the players to double their efforts so as to achieve the club's goals in the new season.

Mohammed Omer put Al Ain ahead 10 minutes before the break and the Libyans equalised one minute from time. Al Ain dominated in most of the departments and could have even added more goals had their frontliners not squandered all the chances that came their way.

Al Ain are planning to play two more friendlies before returning home on August 28. They are meeting Nortburg club tomorrow and conclude their games with a match on August 25 against another German side, to be decided later.

They will play their last friendly game at home on their return before they meet Al Himreiya in the first leg of the President's Cup.
