A host of multi-functioned summer camps are being offered by the Directorate of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation (SWR) at the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and many private clubs and societies.
The SWR will hold its annual camp for children from July 7 to August 22 at the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait Social Rehabilitation Centre.
Around 160 students from Al Khansa Primary Girls School and Hafsa Primary Girls School, along with children from the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait Social Rehabilitation Centre and Shaikhan Al Farsi Centre for Total Communication- all in the age group 5-18- will take part in the event.
The camp is part of the directorate's plan to enhance the rehabilitation programmes and organise new activities for the disabled.
Handicrafts, drawing, cooking, make-up courses will be part of the camp's activities, along with visits to important places in the Kingdom to inform the students about the country's cultural and historical sites.
Meanwhile, more than 1,500 students are expected to take part in Al Eslah Society's annual summer camp. The camp, held at Al Falah Schools in Muharraq and East Riffa, and the society premises in Isa Town and Manama, is to start on Wednesday.
Youngsters aged 13 to 18 will study the Quran and Internet, prepare posters and brochures promoting Islam, and play various sports on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday.
Weekly entertainment field trips will be also organised.
The Konkan Singers Club, the Kerala Catholic Association (KCA) Toastmasters Club, the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam, the Karnataka Social Club and the Young Goans Club are offering separate summer camps for their member' children.
Most of them will start in the first week of July. Activities include sports, arts and crafts, dancing and modeling cookery and quiz.
Nadeen International School, in Umm Al Hassam, is organising a camp for children aged three to 10 years starting from July 6 to August 28.
Activities include arts and crafts, field trips once a week, sand play, water play, music drama and many more.
Alliance Francaise, in Isa Town, is offering French lessons for children aged eight to 14 years, in two camps, from July 6 until July 31 and from August 10 until September 5.
The Asian School, in Umm Al Hassam, is planning a host of activities not only for its own pupils, but for all children aged from three and a half years to 12 years.
The Children's House, Budaiya, is organising two months of fun, from July 1 to August 28. Children aged two years to six years are invited to take part in various activities such as arts and crafts, cooking, singing and field trips.
Al Fateh English Pre School, in Al Mahooz, is planning a summer camp for youngsters aged two years to eight years, from July 1 to July 31. Activities involved will be arts and crafts, music, English lessons, Taekwondo classes, games and weekly field trips.
Bahrain National Museum is offering a camp specialising in teaching children art and crafts using products from palm trees. The camp starts on July 6 and will continue for one month.
The English Language Centre, in Mahooz is organising English classes for children aged six and upwards, plus adults. The first course started on June 8, the second starts on July 6 and the third on August 3, for one month.
The Diplomat Radisson SAS and Le Royal Meridien hotels will also be organising children's summer camps from the first week of July for children. The camps will include activities such as sports, martial arts, video games and field trips.
