Dubai: To mark the gesture of giving back to the community, RAK Hospital, Ras Al Khaimah is holding a free of cost monthlong clinic for clinical and wellness assessment, eye screening and other essential tests, an official from the hospital said.
Dr Raza Siddiqui, CEO of Arabian Healthcare Group and executive director of the hospital, said, “Fasting during long summer days in particular takes its toll, and it’s important that we take good care of our health to avoid falling sick. In general too, people simply tend to neglect their health and need a wake-up call — such as this clinic — to realise the state of their well-being. The intensive assessments provide people with a thorough knowledge of basic health care that will help them avoid bigger issues including weak eyesight.”
Recent studies have proved that UAE residents are facing many health crises. According to a recent report by World Health Organisation (WHO), 70 per cent of men and 67 per cent of women who are 15 years and older are obese. Moreover, experts predict that around one-third of the male population will suffer from some heart problem. Fingers are often pointed at sedentary lifestyle and lack of physical fitness.
“This is what we are counselling at the clinic: assess your current physical health and work towards an improved, healthier and physically fit lifestyle. Moreover, those who are fasting are being briefed on the right foods that one needs to consume to build energy during the day,” added Dr Siddiqui. The clinic runs from 8pm to 11pm daily on the RAK Hospital premises.
