UN lauds UAE Shaikh Khalifa's support to refugees

Abu Dhabi: This United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) praised the noble initiatives of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan for helping refugees worldwide.

It reiterated that such continuous support help improve conditions of the refugees as it curbs their suffering.

In a gratitude message delivered by the UN body to Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) on the occasion of the World Refugee Day, the commissioner referred to the role of Shaikh Khalifa in alleviating the suffering of refugees worldwide, citing the recent $10 million donation to the refugees in Syria.

The commissioner noted that it was following efforts exerted by the RCA under the leadership of Shaikh Hamdan in the regions hit by armed conflicts and natural calamities, applauding the role of the RCA in this respect. It added that the RCA is one of the major donors to the efforts of the refugees commissioner.
