UAE President offers Eid prayer at Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan performed the Eid Al Fitr prayer on Tuesday morning at the Zayed Mosque (Grand Mosque) in Abu Dhabi.

Also at the mosque to perform the prayers alongside the UAE President were General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Shaikh Saif Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan, Shaikh Suroor Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan, Shaikh Hazza' Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor, Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior, Shaikh Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Head of the Abu Dhabi Emiri Flight, Shaikh Ahmad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed Foundation for Charitable and Humanitarian Works, Shaikh Ahmad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs, Shaikh Hamed Bin Zayed, Chief of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court and Chairman of Higher Corporation for Specialised Economic Zones (ZonesCorp), Shaikh Omar Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President's Aide d'Camp, Shaikh Khalid Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Head of the Department of the Financial Department, Brigadier Shaikh Saeed Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan, Deputy Inspector General at the Ministry of Interior, Shaikh Ahmad Bin Hamed Al Nahyan, Special Advisor to the President, Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works, Dr Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saif Al Nahyan, Chairman, Etihad Airways, and Shaikh Hazza' Bin Sultan Bin Zayed.

Also at the mosque to perform Eid prayer were other shaikhs, ministers and civil and military officials, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in the UAE and a large number of UAE nationals and muslim expatriates.

The Eid sermon was delivered by Shaikh Ai Al Hashimi, Advisor at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs. He stressed the significance of enhancing love and respect in the community. He also talked about a wide-range of topics and called for tolerance, Zakat and almsgiving. He also preached about Salat (prayer), fasting, reciting Quran and called on Muslims to take it as the guidebook and constitution.

He prayed for the soul of the late UAE leader, Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He also prayed to God to protect Shaikh Khalifa, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed and Their Highnesses Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates.

Later Shaikh Khalifa, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed and the rest of the congregation visited the tomb of the Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and recited Fatiha for his soul.
