Swedish monarch arrives in UAE

Abu Dhabi: King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden arrived in the UAE on Thursday.

The king will try to get first-hand information about scout movement in the UAE and would meet with a number of UAE officials.

The king, who is also the honorary chairman of the World Scout Foundation, was received on arrival by Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr Salim Abdul Rahman Al Darmaki, Secretary General of Arab Scout Organisation and Board Chairman of the UAE Scout Association and leading members of the UAE scout movement offices.

According to Dr Ahmad Thani Al Dosari, Secretary General of the UAE Scout Association, a photo exhibition is being held with the participation of all the UAE scout movement offices, with all of them putting on show their respective items, maquettes and logos, as well as the local and international UAE scout organisations, adding that the UAE Red Crescent Authority, which is a major partner of the UAE Scout Association, is also proactively participating in the exhibition.

He said his outfit will organise a special reception during which the Swedish monarch will be inducted into the UAE scouting family as part of the local UAE scouting tradition.

He praised the king for visiting the Sharjah scout office. He said the visit was a great support to local and international scout movements.
