UAE leaders congratulate Qatari Emir
Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent a congratulatory cable to Shaikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, on the occasion of his country's Independence Day. His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Rulers of the Emirates have sent similar cables to the Emir of Qatar. Shaikh Khalifa and Shaikh Mohammad also sent congratulatory cables to President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva of Brazil on the occasion of his country's Independence Day.

Commission's work plan reviewed
Abu Dhabi: Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs, instructed the National Elections Commission to coordinate with other national bodies to make the election process a success. This is to be done through spreading awareness among nationals, and informing them of their constitutional rights and duties, to enhance political participation in the UAE, said Shaikh Mansour. In a meeting held yesterday at his office, Shaikh Mansour reviewed the commission's work plan, and its administration, organisation and implementation procedures, as well as all plans to facilitate the elections.
