Khalifa sends cables to Australian and Indian leaders
Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, have sent congratulatory cables to Michael Jeffery, Australia's General Governor, on the occasion of his country's national day. They also sent cables of congratulations yesterday to Indian President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, on the occasion of Republic Day. Meanwhile, Shaikh Khalifa received a cable of thanks from US President George W. Bush, in response to an earlier cable sent to Bush by Shaikh Khalifa condoling the death of former US President Gerald Ford.

Abdullah briefed on efforts to boost ties
Abu Dhabi: Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, yesterday received Dr Gema Martin Munoz, Director of the Madrid-based Casa Arabe (Arab House) and the International Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies (IIAIS). He was briefed on the Arab House's efforts to promote Arab-Spanish relations. He also received outgoing Sudanese Ambassador Haj Al Faki Hashim. Later, Shaikh Abdullah receives Emirates Cultural Club members at the American University of Sharjah.
