Candidate vows to pay more attention to bright children

Dubai: A candidate for the Federal National Council elections said he would work to pay special attention to academically gifted children and help expose their talents if elected.

At a press conference to announce his campaign for the FNC, Jamal Al Hai, currently the chairman of the executive board at the Department of Civil Aviation in Dubai, said he would work to improve the conditions of senior citizens, and working women, as well as pay special attention to environmental issues and gifted children.

His plans include 'discovering the jewels' among Emirati children to increase their integration in society and utilise their talents to the maximum.

Such a campaign, he said, should be in an effort to make Dubai the centre in the Gulf, in recognising the abilities of gifted children.

"Appreciating the abilities of gifted children can be done through cooperation with the Ministry of Education and other bodies, as well as the setting up of a committee to verify and pick gifted children from schools," he said.

He also proposed the establishment of specialised institutes and schools for talented children to recognise their abilities in cooperation with international institutes for gifted children.

Another area of concern for the FNC candidate was senior citizens. According to him, more attention needs to be paid to them. "They are the sources of our heritage," he said, stressing on the need to improve health services for them.
