Airline believes in its responsibility to support local community, says official
Abu Dhabi: Etihad Airways has donated an ultrasound machine, which can detect and treat breast cancer, to the Red Crescent Authority during an event held at Etihad Training Academy.
The donation came out to assist the Red Crescent authority with its efforts and programmes to raise awareness of breast cancer among Emirati women, focusing on the importance of early detection, Etihad Airways confirmed.
“Etihad Airways strongly believes in its responsibility to support local community. Our goal in working with the Red Crescent Authority is to ensure that women throughout the UAE will have access to a potentially life-saving service,” said Ray Gammell, the airline’s chief officer for people and performance.
“We are always committed to raise awareness of breast cancer as part of our humanitarian efforts and socially responsible projects. The donation of this machine which works towards the early detection of breast cancer will help us to reach those who are in remote areas of the country and do not have access to these kinds of vital healthcare services,” said Rashed Mubarak Al Mansouri, deputy secretary general for local affairs of the Red Crescent Authority.
