Special petrol shortage in some pumps
Fujairah: Petrol stations of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) across all Northern Emirates have been left without the Special (95 octane) category of petrol and are having to turn away motorists.
Employees at petrol stations in Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah say the Special variety ran out days ago, insisting that they have not been informed when they could expect further supplies.
The shortages also affected Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain, but the company does not have a presence in Dubai.
Supply in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, including Al Ain, was not affected.
Competing petrol stations were able to take advantage as motorists switched suppliers to fill up their petrol tanks with their favoured variety.
The affected pumps continued to supply other varieties of petrol. An Adnoc official said the shortages were due to huge demand and promised the situation will be resolved "within days".
