Report any problems, official says
Dubai/Sharjah: A senior official has reminded the public that they can report problems caused by the recent heavy rain to the municipality.
In Dubai, residents can call the 800-900 hotline and a task force will respond immediately, said Abdul Majid Sifaee, Director of the Drainage Network Department at the Municipality.
He said a large team is responsible for tackling any emergency such as waterlogged roads.
"When it is raining our team is on 12-hour duty working in two shifts. I try to use portable pumps rather than large tankers to avoid traffic congestion," he said.
In Sharjah, about 400 municipal workers are deployed to tackle problems related to the rain, said Abdul Aziz Al Mansouri, Deputy Manager of the Drainage Department at Sharjah Municipality.
"Engineers and foremen monitor the drainage system to ensure that it does not become clogged," he said.
Sharjah residents can call the municipality's 24-hour hotline number on 993 if they experience problems related to flooding.
