Rain in Al Ain hints at pleasant days ahead

Al Ain/Dubai: There was light rain in Al Ain yesterday as residents in some parts of the country began to enjoy more pleasant conditions now that the worst of summer is over.

The rain started around 3pm and lasted for around 20 minutes after clouds had been hovering from the morning.

Many residents were caught by surprise, particularly since it was raining in the eastern parts of Al Ain while the sun was shining in the other half of the city.

"It was a light thunderstorm that developed due to winds and moisture from the Arabian Sea," said the Met Department.

The weatherman said conditions were unusually hot for this time of the year.

Despite the heat in Dubai, low humidity meant that residents enjoyed pleasant conditions with the meteorologists' comfort index reaching one on a 10-point scale, which represents 'comfortable' conditions.

Over the next 48 hours, the weather is likely to be hot and dusty in some areas. There is a chance of rain in some parts.
