Dusty winds bring temperature down a few degrees in the UAE

Al Ain: People heaved a sigh of relief as dusty north-westerly winds have pushed the mercury a few degrees down on Thursday.

Weathermen expect the dry and dusty weather pattern to continue for the next few days, warning people with breathing problems to take necessary precautions.

Dr S. K. Gupta of Dubai Met Department said dust started to envelop Kuwait and the light to moderate north-westerly winds are now pushing it to the UAE.

He said the wind system has changed in the region and dust has moved from Kuwait to Iran and coming to the UAE from over the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas.

The situation in most of the UAE coastal cities, including Dubai, Sharjah and Ras Al Khamah will be dusty. "We expect the situation to continue for a few days during which humidity level will also remain low," said Dr Gupta.

On Thursday, the maximum high temperature is 46 degree Celsius in Al Ain and Ras Al Khaimah, 45 degree Celsius in Ajman and Umm Al Quwain, 44 degree Celsius in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, 43 degree Celsius in Dubai and 36 degree Celsius in Fujairah.

According to the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), weather will be hot and hazy all over the country for the next 48 hours. Humidity may rise in the evening and night.
