Parents to hold press conference on Wednesday
Dubai: Parents of children enrolled at Dubai Modern High School will hold a press conference on Wednesday to reveal the results of a survey conducted on reactions to a 90 per cent fee hike.
Recently, Global Education Management Systems (GEMS), the company which manages the school, issued a statement finalising its position on the fee increase, which will be imposed once the school relocates to its new campus in Nad Al Shiba.
Parents received a circular two weeks ago announcing that fees for the next two academic years would be increased.
This resulted in two gatherings at the school and meetings with school officials.
By way of compromise, the planned increase of 110 per cent - approved last year by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) - was reduced to 90 per cent.
However, concerned parents have requested the presence of GEMS senior management, the KHDA, officials from the Ministry of Education, as well as officials from the Indian Embassy and Consulate at the press conference.
It will be held in Al Wasl Ballroom of the Dusit Thani Hotel on Shaikh Zayed Road at 10am.
A GEMS spokesperson told Gulf News that they will not attend the press conference.
